Papyrus 19 (in the Gregory-Aland numbering), signed by P¹⁹, is an early copy of the New Testament in Greek. The manuscript paleographically has been assigned to the 250-300 A.D.

The papyrus is currently housed at the Bodleian Library, Gr. bibl. d. 6 (P) at the University of Oxford.

Description

Papyrus 19 is a papyrus manuscript of the Gospel of Matthew, containing text for Matt 10:32-11:5. The leaf is complete at the top and bottom but broken at the sides. Philip Comfort says, “The manuscript is unusual in that it does not have sacred names written as nomina sacra. The text, not Alexandrian, displays independent readings.” The Greek text of this codex is representative of the Alexandrian text-type by some. Aland placed it in Category II. Notable Readings

Matthew 10:34 has the variant ουν νομίσητε (Therefore, you^pl think) instead of μη νομίσητε (Do not think).

Matthew 10:37b (and the person loving their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me) is omitted, as in B* D 983 syr^h Codex Schøyen

Bible translations into Coptic

There have been many Coptic versions of the Bible, including some of the earliest translations into any language. Several different versions were made in the ancient world, with different editions of the Old and New Testament in five of the dialects of Coptic: Bohairic (northern), Fayyumic, Sahidic (southern), Akhmimic, and Mesokemic (middle).

Matthew 10:38 is omitted, as in M*

Codex Campianus: Codex Campianus is designated as “M” or “021” in the Gregory-Aland cataloging system and as “ε 72” in the Von Soden system. It is a Greek uncial manuscript of the New Testament, dated palaeographically to the 9th century.

Matthew 10:37b-38 is also omitted in the Hebrew Shem Tov Matthew manuscript.

Rabbinical translations of Matthew

The rabbinical translations of Matthew are rabbinical versions of the Gospel of Matthew that are written in Hebrew; Shem Tob’s Hebrew Gospel of Matthew, the Du Tillet Matthew, and the Münster Matthew, and which were used in polemical debate with Catholics. These versions are to be distinguished from the Gospel of the Hebrews which was one or more works found in the Early Church but surviving only as fragmentary quotations in Greek and Latin texts.
