There is a threefold defense against this threefold opposition (imperfect self, unbelievers, Satan) to our walking with God.
Walking in the Truth
3 John 1:4 Updated American Standard Version (UASV)
4 No greater joy do I have than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.
hat they adhere steadfastly to the truth, and that they live in accordance with it.
I incline my heart to perform your statutes
forever, to the end..—Psalm 119:112.
Though every right inclination of the human heart is to be traced to the divine agency, yet it is also true that man is active in religion – or that his own mind resolves, chooses, and prefers – and that true religion is the actual choice or preference of all who serve God aright.
Walking in the truth is far more than mere head knowledge of the who, what, where, why and how of things. This knowledge will lead to what Luke called the early Christians, “the Way.” (Acts 9:2)
What God sees and regards as truth is true, because he sees things as they are; and when we have the divine estimate of anything, we understand what the thing is. It is not that he makes it to be true, but that he sees it to be true.
