In an age when biblical truth is under relentless attack, and false ideologies—particularly Islam, promoted through Qatari-funded channels—have gained unprecedented influence within Western education and culture, the Church must return to its foundational mission: defend the faith and proclaim the Gospel. These two divine mandates are not optional; they are non-negotiable. They stand as pillars of true Christianity. To defend the faith is to guard the deposit of sound doctrine delivered once for all to the holy ones (Jude 3). To proclaim the Gospel is to declare to a dying world that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone, “for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Yet today, far too many churches and Christian families have neglected one or both of these imperatives. Some focus on defense but never proclaim. Others proclaim a watered-down gospel that cannot withstand scrutiny, compromise with cultural narratives, or avoid confrontation with the lies of Islam and other false religions. But true biblical Christianity stands firm in both defense and proclamation—with clarity, boldness, and unshakable conviction.

This article is a call to action: for pastors to preach with courage, for parents to disciple their children in the truth, for young believers to stand without fear, and for every Christian to be equipped to both destroy arguments raised against the knowledge of God and declare the exclusive hope found in Christ.

The Call to Defend: Contend Earnestly for the Faith

The New Testament is filled with urgent commands to guard and defend the truth. In Jude 3, believers are told: “Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all time handed down to the holy ones.” The phrase “contend earnestly” (Greek: epagonizomai) implies struggle, effort, battle. It is not passive. It is not accommodating. It is an active, ongoing defense of truth against error.

This command is not limited to trained theologians or seminary professors. It is for every believer. It applies in the classroom, the workplace, the home, and especially in the Church. And in a time when Islamic ideologies are being laundered into Western education as cultural understanding or tolerance, the need to defend the faith has never been greater.

Islam is not a co-equal Abrahamic religion. It is a false system that denies the Son (1 John 2:22), denies the cross (Qur’an 4:157), and offers a works-based salvation that opposes the grace of the Gospel (Ephesians 2:8–9). Its theology is not merely different—it is antichrist. Its propagation in schools, universities, and even interfaith forums is not religious dialogue; it is spiritual infiltration.

Christians must expose the lies of Islam—not with hatred or violence, but with truth spoken in love (Ephesians 4:15). To remain silent while our children are indoctrinated is spiritual negligence. To refuse to address false religion in the pulpit is pastoral malpractice. As Paul instructed Titus, elders must “be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict” (Titus 1:9).

The Necessity of Sound Doctrine

To defend the faith, one must know the faith. And that means embracing the whole counsel of God, not the fragmented or sugarcoated version so common in compromised churches today. Sound doctrine is not a luxury for advanced believers—it is a lifeline for every Christian. As Paul warned, “For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires” (2 Timothy 4:3).

That time has arrived.

Many pulpits today preach moralism, emotionalism, or social activism instead of repentance and faith in Christ. Islamic propaganda exploits this vacuum by offering students and seekers a worldview that is disciplined, global, and intellectually assertive—even if it is false. In contrast, a doctrinally weak Christianity cannot resist this deception.

This is why churches must teach Scripture expositionally, preach the doctrines of Christ, sin, atonement, judgment, and resurrection, and train believers to discern between truth and error. Without sound doctrine, there is no defense—only defeat.

REASONING WITH OTHER RELIGIONS

The Call to Proclaim: The Gospel Is the Power of God

Defending the faith is not enough. We are also called to proclaim the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. Romans 1:16 declares, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” The Gospel is not a suggestion. It is a divine announcement that demands repentance and faith. It is the only message that saves.

In a culture saturated with pluralism, where Islam is elevated as noble and Christianity is demonized as oppressive, the urgency to proclaim the true Gospel cannot be overstated. While Islam offers submission to a distant deity with no assurance of salvation, the Gospel offers reconciliation to God through the blood of Christ, forgiveness of sins, and eternal life.

We must preach:

Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, sinless in life, crucified for our sins, risen bodily from the grave, and returning in power and glory.
Salvation by grace alone through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8–9).
The exclusivity of Christ: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
The reality of eternal judgment for those who reject Christ, and the hope of eternal life for those who believe (John 3:36).

This message must be proclaimed with clarity—not softened by politically correct language. It must be proclaimed with urgency—not delayed by fear of offense. And it must be proclaimed with boldness, trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit and the authority of Scripture.

Combatting the Cultural Propaganda with Gospel Truth

Today’s youth are not merely facing cultural confusion. They are facing a false gospel, one promoted with financial power, cultural prestige, and emotional appeal. Islam, as advanced through Qatari-funded education, media, and interfaith platforms, presents itself as a religion of peace and justice. But its theological core is in direct contradiction to the Gospel of Christ.

Consider:

Islam denies the Fatherhood of God.
It denies the Sonship of Christ.
It denies the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
It denies the crucifixion and resurrection—central to Christian salvation.
It denies the inspiration of the Bible, claiming the Qur’an as superior.
It denies assurance of salvation, replacing it with a lifetime of fear-based works.

To proclaim the Gospel in this context is to expose these lies and offer the only truth that can save. Christians must be ready to engage their neighbors, professors, classmates, and family members with confidence, grounded not in academic credentials but in the power of God’s Word.

Equipping the Next Generation to Stand

One of the greatest tragedies today is the failure of Christian parents and churches to equip young believers to defend and proclaim the Gospel. Many students enter universities unprepared, unequipped, and unaware of the intellectual and spiritual war awaiting them. Within a year or two, many walk away from the faith, not because it was refuted, but because it was never taught, defended, or modeled.

The Church must recover its biblical mandate to train disciples, not merely entertain crowds. Parents must reclaim their role as the primary disciplers of their children. This means:

– Teaching children what they believe and why.
– Training them in apologetics to answer the lies of Islam and secularism.
– Modeling boldness and faithfulness in their own walk.
– Exposing the dangers of false religion clearly and biblically.
– Raising them with the expectation that following Christ will cost them—but that He is worth everything.

As Paul exhorted Timothy: “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction” (2 Timothy 4:2). This command applies to every generation.

The Courage to Confront and the Compassion to Save

Defending the faith and proclaiming the Gospel requires courage—but not cruelty. We are called to speak the truth in love, not with malice. We must remember that Muslims, like all people, are not the enemy—they are the mission field. They have been deceived by a false system that denies Christ. Our job is not to attack them, but to rescue them with the truth that sets free.

This means:

– Refusing to affirm Islamic theology as compatible with Christianity.
– Engaging Muslims and other unbelievers with gentleness and reverence (1 Peter 3:15).
– Praying for their salvation and boldly presenting Christ as their only hope.
– Rejoicing when even one lost soul repents and believes.

Conclusion: Obeying the Great Commission in an Age of Apostasy

We live in an age of apostasy, where many are turning from the truth to embrace myths (2 Timothy 4:4). Islam, though ancient, is being repackaged for Western consumption—cleaned up, romanticized, and presented as an intellectual and spiritual alternative to Christianity. But the Gospel remains unchanged. It is the power of God unto salvation. It is still the message the world needs. And it must be defended with truth and proclaimed without fear.

The time for silence is over. The time for cowardice is past. Let every believer resolve to:

– Know the truth.
– Love the truth.
– Defend the truth.
– Proclaim the truth.

Let the Church rise—not with weapons of the flesh, but with the Word of God in our hearts, the Gospel on our lips, and boldness in our souls.

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”
(Romans 10:17)
