Biblical Self-Love as Godly Stewardship
Self-love in a biblical sense is understanding oneself as created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and valuing that creation. It is not a prideful or selfish love but a proper appreciation and care for oneself that aligns with Jesus’ commandment in Mark 12:31, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” There is an implicit understanding here that to love one’s neighbor effectively, one must also possess a healthy love for oneself, which includes recognizing one’s worth in God’s eyes and caring for one’s own needs—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Conclusion: Cultivating a God-Centered Self-Regard and Peace
The Christian concept of self-love and inner peace is centered on the understanding of being created and valued by God, leading to a life that is lived in harmony with His purposes. This self-regard is rooted not in worldly standards but in divine truth. It fosters a peace that empowers believers to engage the world with confidence in their identity in Christ and enables them to serve others with the compassion and grace that flows from a vibrant relationship with the Lord. Through ongoing self-examination, believers can maintain a balance of self-acceptance and continual growth, ensuring that their love for self and the peace they experience contribute positively to their spiritual development and their service to the kingdom of God.
