For many Catholics, the very idea or thought of Mary’s having sexual intercourse with Joseph, her husband, is unthinkable, unimaginable, and shocking. This is because the whole attitude of the Catholic church concerning sex and sexual intercourse is that it isn't even to be spoken of, as the average Catholic has the impression that a good Catholic person cannot really be holy if he or she has intercourse, even within wedlock.
