CHRISTIAN LIVING: What Can Help You to Stand Firm in the Faith?

From the moment that you have become a Christian, your spiritual progress has been mostly a joy to you! Yet, you want to remain as Paul said to the Christians in Colossae, “as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Col. 2:6-7) While most around us in the Christian congregation has prospered spiritually, some have drifted away because of failing to “stand firm in the faith.” (1 Cor. 16:13) You can prevent this from happening to You. How?

Regular Spiritual Activity: You need to establish a good routine within your life. In your church, your needs should be cared for satisfactorily. There should be at least three different Christian meetings per week that you can attend that will spur you on to greater spiritual growth and stability, provided that you are in regular attendance to reap the benefits. (Heb. 10:24-25) A regular routine of Bible Study Program with the books that discuss the meat of God’s Word will cause your spiritual roots to grow deep and strong. (Heb. 5:14) But first, you need to know HOW TO STUDY YOUR BIBLE: Rightly Handling the Word of God. Then, you need to understand HOW TO INTERPRET THE BIBLE: An Introduction to Hermeneutics; INTERPRETING THE BIBLE: Introduction to Biblical Hermeneutics. You too will have to realize that all biblical interpretation is not a good method of biblical interpretation: BIBLICAL CRITICISM: Beyond the Basics. Setting you some personal spiritual goals and diligently working toward them will also bring you lasting benefits.—Phil. 3:16.

Spiritually Mature Ones Can Help: It is always wise to have Christian friends that are more spiritually mature than yourself. Get to know the pastor, as they are the ones that are responsible for your spiritual growth. (1 Thess. 2:11-12) If they offer you any suggestions or counsel, welcome it. (Eph. 4:11-16) The assistant pastor(s) are also interested in helping you to be firm in the faith, so look to these brothers for encouragement.

Have you considered your work in the great commission that Jesus commanded you to carry out? Talk to your pastor about any way that you can be used in carrying the good news into your community. Definitely, take advantage of the hundreds of free articles on Christian Apologetics and Christian Evangelism. Continually strengthen the spirituality of yourself by actively seeking ways to do more locally.—Matthew 24:14; 28:19-20; Acts 1:8.

By your being rooted and stabilized in the faith, you will enjoy a close relationship with the Father and warm association with our Christian brothers and sisters. This empowers you to withstand Satan’s attacks and strengthens your hope of an everlasting future.—1 Pet. 5:9-10.
