Have the Anxieties of Life Taken a Toll?
Hebrews 10:24 Updated American Standard Version (UASV)
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
Many Christian brothers and sisters are struggling with the anxieties of daily life. We as God’s Christian workers need to be mature in the faith so we can discern how to help. Suppose we are mature in the faith and we notice that a married couple has not been to the congregation for a few weeks. Certainly, we should be moved to visit them. After some introductions, we listen carefully as such the couple makes heartfelt expressions, and we discover that they are struggling with the anxieties of life, which have taken a serious toll on them. (Luke 21:34) Financially, they have been struggling to get by and things around the house need to be repaired and the husband has been incapacitated with chronic pain. The stress of how to climb out of these difficulties has caused them to slip into spiritual inactivity at the Christian meetings. While they express the need for relief, we discover that they are beginning to doubt because month after month, they have prayed, and no relief has come. We might lovingly and gently point out that isolation is not the answer.
We might tactfully ask them, “How can God answer their prayers if they do not open up to the pastors at the congregation, and especially if they stop attending meetings? We can pray with them asking for holy spirit and divine help, and let them know that they need to act in harmony with their prayers. (Luke 11:13) However, we need to ask them some rhetorical important questions and then provide them with biblical answers.
