Wives Who Build Up Their Family
Eph. 5:22 Updated American Standard Version (UASV)
22 Wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
A commendable wife works for the good of her family. (Prov. 14:1) This is in contrast with the foolish women of the world, who have nothing but contempt and disrespect for the arrangement set out by God. A wise Godly woman has deep respect for this provision. A biblically minded wife has the mind of Christ and is not influenced by the world’s attitude of disobedience and independence, but rather she is in submission to her mate. (Eph. 2:2) The foolish wife, on the other hand, is in a hurry to speak disapprovingly, negatively, harshly of her husband, whereas a wise woman works to increase the respect that her children and others have for her husband. The biblical twenty-first-century wife is careful not to undermine her husband’s headship by nagging him or arguing with him. Moreover, the wise wife is always looking out for the economic stability of the family. A foolish woman likely wastes her family’s hard-earned resources. A helpful, loyal, caring wife works with her husband in financial matters. The way of the wise wife is obvious by prudence and economy. In other words, she does not spend frivolously to the point where her husband has to work overtime.
